Hairy Biker Dave Myers is set to put down his spatula and put on his spats as he glams it up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Dave is a real renaissance man, a successful TV presenter, author, foodie and motorbike enthusiast. He has had a varied career, from operating a furnace in a steelworks when he was a student, to training as a make-up artist specialising in prosthetics, creating work for The Life and Loves of a She Devil, Prime Suspect and Spooks.

It was on the set of a Catherine Cookson adaptation that he first met his on-screen partner Si King. The pair bonded over their love of food and motorbikes and the Hairy Bikers were born.

Since their first series, The Hairy Bikers Cookbook in 2004, the pair have entertained the British public with their bubbly enthusiasm and witty banter as they travel to the four corners of the world in search of new food experiences on vintage bikes.

In 2012 Dave and Si lost a considerable amount of weight whilst making The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight, and the resulting book toppled best-seller Fifty Shades of Grey off the top spot and added to the duo’s list of 11 cookery titles. Dave hopes that his appearance on Strictly can help him keep trim whilst showing off his new physique.

Dave married his fiancé Liliana in his home town of Barrow, Cumbria in 2011. He owns a houseboat which he will moor closer to the Strictly studios during his time on the show.
