Born into a farming family in Fife, Scotland, he continued to run the farm throughout his driving career. He was killed competing in a Formula Two race in Hockenheim, Germany in 1968. At the time of his death Jim Clark had won more Grand Prix races (25) and achieved more Grand Prix pole positions (33) than any other driver in the World Championships. In 1963 he set a record by winning the first seven races of the F1 season and that year he helped Lotus win their first Constructor¹s World Championship.
