Steffan Knight is a singer/songwriter from Whitchurch near Ross-on-Wye.

He's recently returned back to Britain after spending a year travelling around Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, New Zealand and Australia - where he made money busking.

He's influenced by The Walkman, John Martyn and Bon Iver and it was great to have him grace our BBC Hereford & Worcester takeover session at this year's SnodFest.

Alvin Stardust, glam rock singer, dies aged 72

Alvin Stardust performed his last ever-show in Evesham on Saturday night.

The 72-year-old singer had recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and died at home with his wife and family around him.

Tonight we hear from Pershore singer/songwriter Jennifer Ludlow who supported Alvin at the Regal Theatre and from the venue's Chelsea Taylor who looks after the acts.

SnodFest has got to be our favourite festival story.

A few years back, a group of people got together in Upton Snodsbury with the idea of building a park.

But instead of holding a car boot, bingo evening or jumble sale, decided to hold their own music festival.

This has now turned into an annual event, with the exception of last year, to fund the upkeep of the area.

BBC Introducing in Hereford

BBC Introducing in Hereford
BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Since 2011, we've been taking the show out on-the-road showcasing the very best musicians from our two counties.

Our next recording session takes place on Sunday 26 October at KJM Studios in Plough Lane, Hereford, and features five acts who we've been playing on BBC Hereford & Worcester recently.

This is your chance to see how we capture live music on tape, while being able to enjoy some of the hottest new acts we've got in our area right now.

None of these artists knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded to us.

The BBC Hereford & Worcester Musicians' Masterclass

The BBC Hereford & Worcester Musicians' Masterclass
As part of this year's Worcester Music Festival, we brought our ever-popular Musicians' Masterclass to The Hive in Worcester - putting together a panel of industry experts to answer those all important questions, such as:
  • How do I get signed?
  • Is there an easy way to land gigs in other areas?
  • How do I build a fanbase?
  • How do you write a number one song?
  • What's the best way to sell your music?

Nicky Penny asks this week's question - and that is - if you're not supposed to chase after record companies, they're supposed to chase after you - how do you get yourself noticed by them in the first place. Answering that is Scott Garrett from MAS Records, BBC Introducing's Andrew Marston, Steve Hadley from Death Or Glory Records and Nigel Clark of Dodgy.

Is the key to revamping Kidderminster investing in its cultural heritage?

A local music promoter believes so - even if it means bulldozing the historic music venue the Frank Freeman Dance Club in the process.

Developers have been looking at breathing new life into the Bull Ring, by turning it into a new public square with shops, restaurants and cafes.

It would involve the demolition of Crown House and buildings on Lower Mill Street, including the famous dance club.

But should a building seeping in history and cultural significance be knocked down, if it could help regenerate the town?
