After a chance meeting in a local pub, Thom saw Ella sing and instantly knew he wanted to write songs for her.

Now, with the addition of his twin brother, Ben, and long-term friend, Matt, they're playing music that really excites them.

Well, this Evesham/Pershore group really excite us too - so much so, one of Tokyo Marching Band's singles has already been the BBC Introducing Track Of The Week on BBC Hereford & Worcester and gained national airplay on the Best Of BBC Introducing with Mark Forrest.

The Jailhouse to close at the end of the year

The Jailhouse to close at the end of the year

Hereford is bidding to be the UK 2021 City of Culture - but it's been announced that one of our most famous musical venues will be closing its doors for the last time on New Year's Eve.

For the last seven years, The Jailhouse has drawn acts as diverse as Miss Dynamite, Two Door Cinema Club and Judge Jules.

But its reputation has suffered in recent years, with police taking charge of its entry management.

BBC Introducing in Hereford

BBC Introducing in Hereford

KJM Studios is a professional recording and production facility based in the heart of Hereford.

It features a full production facility with separate drum and vocal recording rooms.

As well as the studio, they also have rehearsal spaces, offer lessons and do on-site repairs.

When invited to go along and do an interview about music - we thought it was a bad idea.

So we're bringing actual music from there instead!

The BBC Hereford & Worcester Musicians' Masterclass

The BBC Hereford & Worcester Musicians' Masterclass
As part of this year's Worcester Music Festival, we brought our ever-popular Musicians' Masterclass to The Hive in Worcester - putting together a panel of industry experts to answer those all important questions, such as:
  • How do I get signed?
  • Is there an easy way to land gigs in other areas?
  • How do I build a fanbase?
  • How do you write a number one song?
  • What's the best way to sell your music?

Stuart Woolfenden asks tonight's question about the role of managers.

Answering that is international tour manager Tom Oliver, Scott Garrett of MAS Records, Verden Allen of Mott The Hoople, Brian Marr of The Marr's Bar, Ella Nozworthy of the Nozstock Festival and Nigel Clark of Dodgy.

BBC Introducing in Redditch

BBC Introducing in Redditch
BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Since 2011, we've been taking the show out on-the-road showcasing the very best musicians from our two counties.

Our next recording session takes place on Sunday 30 November at Death Or Glory Records in Redditch and features four acts who we've been playing on BBC Hereford & Worcester recently.

This is your chance to see how we capture live music on tape, while being able to enjoy some of the hottest new acts we've got in our area right now.

None of these artists knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded to us.
