Episode 5
Mary Berry is invited behind the walls of Alan Titchmarsh’s magnificent garden as she makes delicious recipes inspired by what we grow and helps Alan to bake his first ever cake.
If Mary has one passion that comes close to cooking, it’s her lifelong love of gardening. So it’s not surprising that Mary has formed a friendship with one of the country’s most respected gardening experts, Alan Titchmarsh. To celebrate her 90th year, Alan has invited Mary for a very special look behind the walls of his magnificent four-acre garden. In these magical surroundings, Mary shows Alan snippets of her old TV shows - how she used to picnic 50 years ago and how she made use of the basic veg of the 1970s.
Mary and Alan then make some of her most mouthwatering recipes inspired by what we grow: an updated version of a delicious creamy cauliflower soup, Mary’s classic smoked salmon, asparagus and dill spaghetti, a salad based around the popular burrata cheese, and teriyaki tuna with ribbon salad. Finally, it's Alan’s chance to make a cake for the first time - Mary’s classic apple cake served with cream.
