A Musical Timepiece

Jamie presents a special edition on the theme of time, featuring music from different times in the calendar year and music with unusual time signatures.

Our special time-themed programme features music to move us through the seasons, including highlights from Astor Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires performed by the Scottish Ensemble, Scottish composer Thea Musgrave's The Seasons performed by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and Max Richter's The New Four Seasons - Vivaldi Recomposed performed by the Chineke! Orchestra.

We also bring you music with unusual time signatures, including Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Holst's Mars from Planets performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, both written in 5/4 time.

Plus many more time-related tracks from composers including Carl Neilson, Peter Maxwell Davies, Oliver Messian and Franz Joseph Haydn.
