Young Chorister of the Year - Junior Semi-Final

Aled Jones and the Rev Kate Bottley host the junior semi-final of BBC Young Chorister of the Year, with judges Gareth Malone, Michelle John and Harry Bradford.

Aled Jones presents the junior semi-final of BBC Young Chorister of the Year from the prestigious Hallé St Peter’s in Manchester. Five singers aged 11 to 13 have been chosen to perform for expert judges Gareth Malone, Michelle John and Harry Bradford. The Rev Kate Bottley gets to know each chorister backstage before they perform, hearing all about their passion for music. Each young singer has chosen a sacred piece to sing, and the judges will choose three choristers to go through to compete in the final.

The semi-final music includes Mozart’s Laudate Dominum, Love Divine All Loves Excelling by Charles Wesley, This Day by Bob Chilcott, Benjamin Britten’s The Birds, and How Shall I Sing That Majesty? by Kenneth Naylor.

All five choristers come together after their solos to perform as a group, with Angel Voices Ever Singing by Francis Pott.
