Young Chorister of the Year - Senior Semi-Final
Aled Jones and the Rev Kate Bottley host the senior semi-final of BBC Young Chorister of the Year, with judges Gareth Malone, Michelle John and Harry Bradford.
Aled Jones presents the senior semi-final of BBC Young Chorister of the Year from the prestigious Hallé St Peter’s in Manchester. Five of the very best singers aged 14 to 18 have been chosen to sing before expert judges Gareth Malone, Michelle John and Harry Bradford. The Rev Kate Bottley gets to know each chorister backstage before they perform, finding out about their passion for music. Each young singer has chosen a sacred piece to sing, and the judges choose three choristers to go through to compete in the final.
The semi-final music includes: All Things Bright and Beautiful by William Henry Monk, Light of the World by John Dankworth, Schubert’s Ave Maria, Love Grows Here by Don Besig and My Song is Love Unknown by John Ireland.
All five semi-finalists come together at the end to perform, as a group, Let All the World in Every Corner Sing by Basil Harwood.
