Freedom from Torture
Freedom from Torture’s mission is to create a world free from torture. Based in the UK, they work with refugees and asylum seekers who have survived torture. Every year, they work with hundreds of torture survivors to help them recover from trauma and start to rebuild their lives.
Nasrin's Story

When Nasrin started campaigning for better human rights in Iran, she was arrested and tortured for eight years. Freedom from Torture’s specialist therapies in the UK helped her to recover. Today she is an author and still campaigns for human rights.
Therapy

It can take many years for someone to recover. Freedom from Torture’s expert clinicians offer one to one and group therapies, such as gardening, art and music to help survivors to come to terms with their experiences and enjoy full and happy lives.
Working with survivors of torture

When people are tortured, their voices are taken away from them. As part of their recovery, survivors share their stories. Our creative groups are led by survivors; raising public awareness and influencing decision-makers about torture and its impact.
