With presumed consent now law everyone in Wales is a potential organ donor when they die, unless they opt out. This three-part series documents a year since the legislation change, with unprecedented access to donor families and the patients waiting for life-saving transplants at the University Hospital of Wales. On the intensive care ward, 41-year-old Steven's family have to make a difficult decision following a devastating diagnosis. Kim from Pontardawe has cystic fibrosis. After suffering yet another chest infection, will she finally sign up to go on the lung transplant waiting list? Glyn has kidney failure, fortunately his daughter Sarah has come forward to give him the gift of one of her kidneys and emotions run high on transplant day.
