While there is no known motive for Ben to have killed Lucy, he had only just come out of prison for murdering Heather. Ben claims he and Jay were planning to rob an off license the night Lucy died, and that when they found her belongings they buried them in the allotment to stop the police from ‘jumping to conclusions’.
