Waste Strategy

When we run events we put a lot of thought into waste, as we think is really important to minimise landfill figures and maximize recycling and composting.

Do you want to know how you can help us?

COMPOST IT!

Food scraps, paper plates and bowls, paper coffee cups, wooden cutlery, napkins and chip cartons - all can go in this bin. When you buy food from the traders onsite everything your food comes in is biodegradable so plates, cutlery, napkins and coffee cups can be placed in the compost bins. Please make sure NO PLASTIC goes into the compost bins as otherwise the whole load may be rejected.

RECYCLE IT!

Plastic bottles, aluminium cans, newspapers, magazines, cardboard

THINK!

Crisp packets, coffee cup lids, straws, plastic shopping bags.

Recycling Kits

As you come onto the event site we will hand out a recycling kit with one clear plastic bag for your recycling and one green biodegradable bag for compostables.

• Clear Plastic Bag - for recycling. Put plastic bottles, aluminium cans, food tins (make sure these a), general plastic containers, newspapers, magazines, flyers & brochures, cardboard and beer cases.

• Green Biodegradable Bag – for compostables. Put your food scraps and leftovers, paper based food packaging, paper coffee cups and wooden cutlery.

• For general rubbish – use your own shopping bags or the bins provided. In these go crisp packets, scrappy bits of plastic, straws, coffee cup lids and all other rubbish. Try and minimise this as everything in these bags goes to landfill.

Pint Cup Deposit

We have a 10p deposit on all cups bought at the bars. You’ll get the 10p back when you return your cups to the refund points.

Energy

Powering our events has an environmental impact both through using up non-renewable resources, and through CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. We are working on solutions such as hybrid batteries, which should reduce the amount of fuel we burn in our generators and importantly reduce our carbon emissions.

Travel

Transport represents the biggest environmental impact at festivals and is the reason why we ask you to think about the best way to travel to minimise your Carbon Footprint.

We highly recommend the use of public transport. Marble Arch (Central Line) is at the north end of the site and Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly Line) is at the south end of the site. Knightsbridge, Victoria, Bond Street and Green Park (the closest step free underground station) are a short walk to the event site. It is always advisable to check TFL journey planner for the latest public travel and transport information.

Partners

Julie’s Bicycle are partnering with us as part of their work helping the UK music community reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Julie’s Bicycle is a not for profit company that brings together music biz know-how and climate science to research where we’re at now, and what a low carbon music experience should look like.
