Q&A with Kirsty Gallacher

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to dance with Brendan? Who the funniest person on Strictly is? (According to Kirsty, anyway!) And how Strictly nerves are kept at bay? Kirsty Gallacher reveals all in an exclusive online Q&A session, where she answered your questions submitted on Twitter and Facebook. Here’s what she said…

What made you say ‘yes’ to the ‘Will you be on Strictly?’ question?

I always wanted to learn how to dance and have the confidence to do it.

We're one big family and we have SUCH fun!
Kirsty Gallacher

Whose dance has been your favourite to watch so far?

I couldn't pick one dance. The standard's so high this year that every week amazes me.

What’s your favourite thing about working with Brendan?

He's great fun and mischievous. We get on brilliantly.

Who is the funniest professional backstage?

Anton always had me in fits of giggles!

What does being part of the Strictly family mean for you? And what is your favourite part in the run up to Saturday night?

My favourite part is coming back together on a Friday... We're one big family and we have SUCH fun! Being part of the family... the camaraderie is incredible and the Strictly experience is like something I could never describe!

What's the most exciting thing about doing Strictly?

When you've done the dance and it's gone the way you want it to go! You feel elated!

Do you enjoy Latin or Ballroom dancing more?

Elements from both. I loved the Viennese Waltz.

Which has been your favourite costume so far?

It has to be my blue Salsa costume... I loved it! It was cute and easy and like something I've always wanted to wear.

Do you feel confident every week on the dance floor now or do you still get nervous?

I still get nervous but you get more used to the situation and it's how to deal with it.

How do you control your nerves before the show?

It's difficult to control your nerves. I do some breathing exercises and focus on what I want to achieve in the dance.

Which dance has been the hardest to learn?

The Paso Doble. To get the balance between attitude and warmth is hard!

Are you hurting more than you thought you would be at this stage?

Let's just say our physio Charis is a star!

Out of all the dances that you've not yet learned which one are you most looking forward to?

I really want to do the Tango - I've always loved the look of it. I hope I get the chance!

Who do you think will be the thriller on Halloween night and who do you think will be eliminated?

I've only seen a couple so far, but Anita and Gleb are always so brilliant and intense, so they're bound to put on a great show. I can't wait to see them all!

Will you keep dancing after the show finishes?

I'd like to carry on dancing. I've got more confidence now so it'd be a shame to let it go.
