Q&A with Janette and Aljaz

Ever wondered what life is like for our lovely Pro dancer couple Janette and Aljaz? We asked you to submit questions to them on social media, and here are their answers! From what they get up to on their days off, to who's the most grumpy in the morning (if at all!) to what inspires them to keeeeeeeeeep dancing, Janette and Aljaz give us the lowdown!

What is the best part about being on Strictly?

“We get to do what we love... every weekend! And in all kinds of ways: teaching, choreographing and physically dancing routines. AND we get to do it together!”

What's been your Strictly highlight this series?

“Winning the Quickstep-A-Thon and dancing the Viennese Waltz” says Aljaz. “Doing the Charleston!” adds Janette.

What's your favourite dance you have ever choreographed?

“My Salsa with Jake Wood!” says Janette. And for Aljaz: “The Waltz with Abbey Clancy!”

Which dance do you feel best describes each other's personalities?

Aljaz: “The Foxtrot: easy, smooth and chilled!” For Janette: “The Cha Cha Cha! Cheeky, fun and Latin!”

What inspires you to keeeeeeep dancing?

“Music. We both love music. Being able to connect with people is nice. Ultimately, it's doing a job where you choreograph and challenge yourself and your celebrity every day. It's the constant evolution of dance that keeps us inspired and finding how we can get better.”

What is your favourite dance to do together?

“We like a romantic American Smooth... a soft, beautiful American Smooth. Andrea Bocelli was a highlight on this year's Strictly. Last year's Snow White and the Huntsmen was one of our favourite dances.”

If you had a chance to pick your ideal partner from anywhere in the world who would it be?

“In our next life, we'll both be celebrities so we can dance with each other!” says Aljaz.

If you weren't dancers what kind of job would you do?

“I would find a way to still be a dancer!” laughs Aljaz.

Where did you meet and who’s grumpiest in the morning?

“We didn't meet on Strictly,” explains Janette. “We met six years ago in London at the dance studio where Aljaz proposed! We aren't grumpy in the morning... just quiet and cuddly.”

Aljaz, when did you realise that you wanted to marry Janette?

“I was attracted to Janette as soon as we met. I think it was because she was so hard to approach which triggered something to make me try even harder!”

What music and what dance will you have as your first dance together as husband and wife?

“It's still to be decided! It will definitely be a slow and romantic song. However, not too many lifts and definitely not a Paso Doble!”

What do you like to do when you're not dancing?

“Definitely cuddling on the couch with the fire on watching an incredible TV series. Chilling at home is our favourite thing to do. We also have a great group of friends so we meet up for dinners in town too!”

What’s your favourite TV show?

“We love Gogglebox, Eggheads, Games of Thrones, House of Cards, Call the Midwife and Don't Tell the Bride, haha!”

Where are you spending Christmas?

“This year we're going to Slovenia. We have a rotation between there and Miami each Christmas,” explains Aljaz.

What will you be having for Christmas dinner?

“I can't wait! My mum will do an all-you-can-eat buffet!” says Aljaz.

Who is the best cook?

“We both don't really cook!” laughs Janette, “But I've become better! I make a good chicken fajita dish!”

What's on your Christmas list?

“We wish we could have all our families together watching the Christmas special!”
