The definitive A-Z of Radio 1's Big Weekend 2017

What. A. Weekend.
Radio 1's Big Weekend is over for another year and we are sad to be leaving the city of Hull behind us after two days of incredible pop music and 50,000 even more incredible Radio 1 listeners.
We took pop royalty, rock and roll legends and the hottest new stars in music to the UK's capital of culture for a not-so-dirty weekend. Here's what happened.
A: alt-J
Alphabetically speaking, alt-J kick everything off for us, but at Big Weekend, they performed second to last on the Sunday on the Where It Begins stage.
B: Big No.1 hits
Zara Larsson couldn't perform with Clean Bandit on the Sunday at Big Weekend, but the band's touring vocalists absolutely smashed this performance of their No.1 hit.
C: Choreography
No other pop star has moves like Christine and The Queens.
D: Dua Lipa
E: Exclusives
Not only did Rita Ora perform brand new track Girls at Big Weekend, she brought Charli XCX and Raye on stage to perform the future smash with her.
F: Flawless harmonies
Because no one (NO ONE) does it quite like Little Mix.
G: Get down from there
Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers flaunted the health and safety guidelines when he performed on top of bandmate Alex Pall's DJ decks.
H: Hunks on the phone
If you hear a phone ringing at Big Weekend, you should definitely answer it. Why? Because it might just be Shawn Mendes on the other end of the line.
I: Inspirational messages
Many stars paid tribute to those who died in Manchester bombing at Big Weekend including Saturday headliner Katy Perry. She dedicated her performance of Part Of Me to the city.
J: Jamaica - give it some credit!
Sean Paul brought some Kingston sounds to Big Weekend but told Radio 1's Newsbeat that he wants to hear more artists crediting Jamaica when they use dancehall elements in their music.
"I just want to hear more [artists] saying, 'Jamaica, big up,' because otherwise kids don't know where it comes from," he said backstage.
K: Kasabian, the kings of indie
Festival veterans and 2014 Glastonbury headliners, Kasabian brought some old school indie swagger to the proceedings.
L: Legends
Kings Of Leon headlined on the Sunday night at Big Weekend, bringing some of the most iconic rock hits of the past two decades to the grand finale of this incredible weekend.
M: Minute's silence
The crowds fell silent at 3pm as a mark of respect to the people of Manchester.
N: New stars
Among the superstars were performances from incredible new talents such as JP Cooper (who sings September Song and Jonas Blue's Perfect Strangers).
WHAT A VOICE.
O: Outdoor singalongs
When you've scored one of the biggest No. 1s of the past year, like James Arthur, you've earned the right to ask thousands of fans to sing the chorus for you.
P: Parents and how to live with them
As a family band, Haim know a thing or two about spending time with parents and siblings, and the trio gave Newsbeat their tips for keeping things harmonious at home.
"Wake up as early as possible and leave the house, so you don't have to deal with them in the morning," said Alana.
"Still say please and thank you, always," added Este.
Q: Queens of pop
Lana Del Rey is a rare visitor to the UK, especially for live performances, so her appearance on the Big Weekend stage was extra special.
R: Rock and roll
Royal Blood brought it and they brought it HARD.
S: Statement trousers
We can't help but look down at our jeans and feel terribly underwhelmed, compared to what Lorde wore on the Big Weekend main stage.
T: Tattoos
Ask yourself; if you see Biffy Clyro live and Simon Neil doesn't get his kit off, did you really see Biffy Clyro live?
U: Undisputed anthems of 2017
Big For Your Boots is one of the biggest tunes of the year and you know what? Stormzy's anthem sounded even better under that famous Hull sunshine.
V: V.big beats
If there's one act guaranteed to get a party started and get it started right, it's Galantis.
W: Worldwide superstars
Imagine Dragons left the Las Vegas desert behind them for a showstopping performance of their epic new tune Thunder (of which there was NONE at Big Weekend).
X: Excellent shirts
We thought Shawn Mendes was wearing the best shirt of the day until we saw what Kieran from Circa Waves had pulled out of his suitcase. Who wore it best?
Y: Years & years
No, not the London pop group, but the fact that some of our Big Weekend performers have been together for two decades.
It's not all about the fresh faces and rising talent, this amazing weekend of live music also paid its respects to some of the longest-running names in the music business.

Z: Zara's phonebox prank
Zara Larsson pranked her fans, with a little help from Radio 1's Scott Mills.
