10 incredible collaborations heating up the Radio 1 playlist

There's an old saying about two heads being better than one, but whoever said it was probably talking about popstars.

Popstars are a pretty tight bunch but they seem closer than ever right now, just look at the Radio 1 playlist; it's full of big name collabs.

Here's a run-down of the biggest duets and collaborations right now, even if not all of them appear to be friends any more...

Calvin Harris, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande - Heatstroke

Calvin Harris is known as one of the biggest dance stars on the planet, but his two most recent releases (this and Top 10 hit Slide) have shown a different side to the star.

The beats are still big, but teaming up with hip hop star Young Thug, R&B singing sensation Ariana Grande and super-producer Pharrell Williams has given Calvin a fresh, new and seriously slick new sound.

We're digging it. It's a proper summer tune (even if that still feels like a long time away).

Cheat Codes & Demi Lovato - No Promises

We're still reeling from the fact that Cool For The Summer wasn't a bigger hit BUT HEY, onwards and upwards eh Demi?

The US star has lent her impressive vocals to Cheat Codes new dancefloor smash and her voice is the perfect match for band member Trevor Dahl. More of this please Demi.

Clean Bandit & Zara Larsson - Symphony

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

Clean Bandit have been nailing it with their recent releases (Tears - banger, Rockabye - banger) and Symphony is no different.

Not only is Symphony one of CB's most emotional tunes yet, thanks to Zara Larsson's flawless vocal and THAT video, but it was also the second song (first was Harry Styles' Sign Of The Times) to knock Ed Sheeran's Shape Of You from the UK No.1 spot.

And we do like a bit of a change from time to time, so well done everyone.

Zayn & PartyNextDoor - Still Got Time

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

Now, there's gossip about this one so listen up.

Still Got Time is a collaboration between Zayn and rapper PartyNextDoor but just because they teamed up in the studio doesn't mean they are friends.

The single was released on 24 March 2017 but by 28 April, PartyNextDoor had deleted all traces of Zayn from his social media and unfollowed him on Twitter - with no explanation.

He doesn't post much and Zayn's not known for being especially chatty, so we may never know what happened between the two.

Ariana Grande & Future - Everyday

Ariana Grande is a serial collaborator (she's worked with Nicki Minaj, Zedd, Iggy Azalea, Lil Wayne, Harry Styles and many more) and her latest hit is no different.

She's teamed up with Future, the US rapper who has released five albums in the past three years. He's a busy boy.

Lana Del Rey & The Weeknd - Lust For Life

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

Lana and The Weeknd probably have the dreamiest song on the current Radio 1 playlist with their ode to LA life.

But this isn't the first time they've worked together, having started their professional relationship when she appeared on his 2015 track Prisoner and later on songs Party Monster and Stargirl Interlude.

If this isn't #collaborationgoals, then we don't know what is.

Mura Masa & Charli XCX - 1 Night

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

So cool it'll chill your drinks, two of the hottest young UK stars have teamed up on one of the slickest party tunes on the Radio 1 playlist.

Mura Masa brings his trademark calypso-influenced production while Charli XCX leads the track with her confident, boisterous vocals.

DJ Khaled, Quavo, Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper & Lil Wayne - I'm The One

If you thought Calvin Harris had the biggest cast list on his new tune, you were wrong.

Never one to do things by halves, DJ Khaled has teamed up with some of the biggest names in the business on his new hit and it's doing mega-business across the world. The video picked up more than 60 million views in its first week online and it's heading to the top of global charts.

Never underestimate the power of the Biebs.

Dua Lipa & Miguel - Lost In Your Light

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

A former Song Of The Week for Clara Amfo, Dua Lipa put in a transatlantic phone call to R&B sex-machine Miguel to team up on her latest tune.

She's been knocking it out of the park with the singles from her debut album (Hotter Than Hell, Blow Your Mind, Be The One) and continues her run with this one.

Plus, it's always a treat to hear Miguel's sugar-sweet vocals on the playlist.

Tinie Tempah & Jake Bugg - Find Me

It shouldn't work but it does. London's fashion-forward rap prince Tinie Tempah has teamed up with Nottingham indie hell-raiser Jake Bugg on this powerful, eclectic new track.

Tinie's cheerful rhymes mix perfectly with Jake's voice, which takes on a new soulful sound on his first foray into urban beats.
