Commissioner of Police Delta State Olufemi Abaniwonda confam to tori pipo say na di friend of di late Paulinus Okon allegedly kill am, im brother bin report am missing on 8 September, 2024 after im and im friend comot.

Suspect allegedly collect twenty million ransom from family of deceased

CP Abaniwonda say di suspect bin initially deny say e no know wetin happen to Paulinus as e even go Paulinus house go ask im family of Paulinus, and dem confront am say Paulinus bin comot with am on dat same date wey e deny say di deceased no go out with am.

"On a later date, di suspect come back and demand Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) from di deceased brother say im wan use di money pay a herbalist wey go tell dem Paulinus whereabouts.

Di suspect again come inform di family say dem don kidnap Paulinus and e collect a ransom of about twenty million, seven hundred and fifteen thousand naira (N20,715,000) from di deceased brother ontop claim say e dey in touch with di kidnappers."

CP Abaniwonda add say wen e become obvious say di suspect get sometin to hide, police arrest am and transfer di case to State Criminal Investigation Department State Headquarters Asaba.

On 28 November 2024, di Police Commissioner direct di DPO Ekpan to take over di case and ensure correct investigation to fish out those responsible as di main suspect bin no dey give any beta information.

"Di DPO Ekpan carry out an intelligence led investigation wey indict anoda 48yrs old man. Na dis man upon im arrest na im open up and confess say e no fit hide wetin happen any longer.

E allege how di suspect bin bring Paulinus to Orere River for Otokutu and request make dem kill am.

Di suspect further state say na on 8 September 2024 imself, Efe and one 30yrs old herbalist tie Paulinus Okon to a stake at night close to Orere River and behead am alive.

CP Abaniwonda explain say during interrogation, di police ask di suspect why e kill im friend Paulinus, and e allegedly tok say im bin see a building for sale at a cost of thirty million naira (N30,000,000) wey e advertise to Paulinus.

Paulinus pay am Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000) in three instalments, but instead of buying di house, e divert di money for im own personal use, come go buy two lands and begin build a duplex for imself.
