Some friends and I went to see a gig by York's local indie band, I Am Jack, at Fibbers last night.
The venue provides a nice surrounding, which creates an intimate atmosphere; fans could clearly see all sorts of movements by the musicians on stage. It is amazing because you get to see how passionate they are toward music and performances, you also see they are happy playing together!
The half-an-hour show, which was really too short, was an enjoyable feast of well-written, well-performed tunes. I do not like to claim this band is like which and which other non-indie bands, but I think they do make original sounds and touching strokes.
'Sawbones', one of the songs they performed, gave me an almost nostalgic vibe. It seemed to have some kind of sublimating effect with the dreamy ambience it formed, taking me to somewhere I used to be very familiar with, but long forgotten by myself.
All in all it was a very special night indeed. I feel I am like a groupie again, being ecstatic standing amongst the crowd. I can't really picture myself performing on stage like I Am Jack, but I will continue to go to more gigs, now that I've found back my passion for live performances. Surely, more rapturous moments are yet to be experienced.
