I'm ill right now, a snuffling, coughing, hurty-throaty kind of ill. So I'm spending the day in bed, just like I used to back in the school-days. Nowadays of course I spend a lot of the day in bed anyway, I'm a student after all, so it's not that different. In fact, a little of the fun is gone. Boo-hoo, sniffle-snuffle, so it goes. My essay passed by without too much hassle, I even have a suspicion I may have done rather well, though we pay such thoughts little heed.
Give me ocular proof or none at all! I have another for this Friday, so we look ever onwards. Anyway, it's not the curricular stuff I want to be chatting about today. No sir. Long time readers will be completely unaware that my post-student ambitions involve being a radio producer, but it is so.
I'm not entirely sure what one of these is, only that it is a Good Job. I know Ros off Frasier is one of them, and that I don't want to be her, but this troubles me little. Basically I just want to be in charge of making programmes for Radio 4. Can I do that please? With this in mind, I have immersed myself in various campus media, and have, as of yesterday, successfully wangled myself the positions of Head of Speech at the radio station, and Deputy Film Editor at one of the newspapers. The second role is quite self explanatory, but the first is vastly more complex and interesting. It allows me to create and commission any programmes I like to be recorded for the radio.
Documentaries, plays, chat-shows: anything like that. Anything that isn't listed as Music or News at the radio station comes under my control. All this will also look spiffing on my CV, which I shall use to batter open the heavily bolted doors of the British Media. I am as a mighty Emperor, fear me now. Olly Chadwick
