SPRINGWATCH POETRY COMPETITION

Third Place

Forest In My Head

by Philip Canny

My breathing place is in my head,
Lying comfortably on my bed.
I slip into a drowsy sleep,
Wake up elsewhere and take a peep.

I see the trees and the forest floor.
I see the eagles swoop and soar.
The scent of pine trees in the air.
The warm forest wind blowing through my hair.

And then it starts to slip away,
But the relaxation will always stay,
Within my heart and in my head,
I wake up lying on my bed.
