My name is Declan Duffy, and I am a wildlife photographer. I was asked by BBC Radio Foyle to do a 6 week journal about the wildlife that you can see in and around Derry during Springwatch 2008.
WILDLIFE DIARY
Declan has been pounding the city streets and parks in search of flora and fauna. Each month he recorded his findings in this online diary. Find out what he spotted. More...»
BUZZARDS Buzzards have a characteristic soaring flight in wide circles, which will last for several hours as the bird quarters the landscape in search of prey, ranging from rabbits and field mice, to small birds and beetles. Buzzards can come from as far away as Scotland to live in Northern Ireland.
So where can you see them? Ballyarnet Park is a good place to see them around 10.30 and 11am, and in the afternoon, about 4:00pm before they go home to the nest.
