Maggie paws-ed for thought when she found the Canadian letter

There are lots of interesting things that wash up on beaches - fossils, treasures, and for some, messages in bottles sent from far away places.
That's exactly what Maggie the dog found on a beach in Aberdeenshire - although of course, as a dog, she couldn't read it.
Her owner, Mike Scott, said the message has been sent from Canada, was dated from 2024, and written in French.
The 60-year-old said he was "amazed" by the bottle's journey of about 2,700 miles (4,300km).

The letter made its way to Scotland all the way from Canada

He said he was taking his dogs for their usual walk along St Cyrus beach in Aberdeenshire when Maggie spotted the transatlantic treasure.
"As I was walking, Maggie my dog was sniffing a bottle that was just washing up," he said.
"It was a really dark glass bottle with a lid and something in it."

The writer of the letter has apparently not yet responded to messages on social media saying her message has been found
He explained: "There was a zip bag in it, and a letter in French.
"I put it in my rucksack and put it on translate when I got home."
The letter was signed off by someone called 'Annie Chiasson'.
It said the bottle had been dropped into the sea from a ferry travelling between Prince Edward Island and Iles-de-la-Madeleine in August 2024.
After finding and messaging the woman on social media, Mike said he still had yet to hear back from her.
