Meet Newsbeat's first time voters - part 2

The general election's taking place on 6 May so Newsbeat's pulled together a group of 19 listeners from around the country to take part in our election coverage.

In the run up to the big day they'll be appearing on the radio and online, letting us know what issues matter to them and whether they're convinced by any of the political parties.

Matthew Mellor-Smith, 23, Huddersfield, self-employed tradesman.

"It's all just a shambles. There's too many people over here working that shouldn't be. There's no work for me."

Rachel Barr

Rachel Barr, 18, Bathgate, now studying sociology at university in Edinburgh.

"I'm only just 18 but I'll definitely vote this time. You don't have any right to complain later if you've not had any say in the first place.", external

Jennifer O'Reilley, 21, living in Northampton but originally from Dublin, training to be an actor.

"There should be more help for ordinary people, and not just for the rich bankers... I'd get the troops out of Afghanistan.", external

Kaya Bowen

Kaya Bowen, 24, Bristol, music producer who also does community work, has one-year-old daughter.

"I want to get a place of my own to live in but the waiting list is very long. There isn’t enough housing or enough help for first time buyers."

Andy Beall

Andy Beall, 22, Portsmouth, IT advisor at a NHS health centre in Aldershot.

"I don’t think David Cameron is the right personality to run the country. Gordon Brown is a completely different person. He’s less in your face."

Siobhan Randles

Siobhan Randles, 25, Uxbridge, runs own business and has a two-year-old daughter.

"I really don’t trust those crooks. They are out of touch. They all say the same things. The House of Commons is like a playground."

Chris O’Brien

Chris O’Brien, 25, Cardiff, environmental engineer for the steelmaker Corus.

"I like David Cameron. Gordon Brown must be competent though to get where he is, to do what he is doing. I’m most interested in Nick Clegg."

Vince Adu

Vince Adu, 21, Bristol, has own small clothing label and also makes short films.

"Open up all the secrets. I dont expect our politicians to be perfect but how can we make fair judgements if they don’t open up."

Gary McGeown, 32, Armagh, runs a fish and chip shop.

"I'm not willing to put a vote on a piece of paper for someone that has no effect on me at all except for making things harder."
