Name?

Matthew Mellor-Smith.

How old are you?

23.

Where do you live?

Huddersfield.

What do you do?

I'm a self-employed tradesman. I do all sorts of things; building, roofing, joinery, kitchen fitting.

Kids?

No. I do want kids, but I don't want to bring them up in this day and age. I'm going to wait and see if it gets better.

Why haven't you voted before?

Never really saw any point. Country wasn't that bad before. Now it's come down to this, I think every vote counts doesn't it? Slowly but surely, I'm starting to pay attention - to take note.

What do you think of politicians?

All I know is that they're rubbish. I think I'd be able to do it better, and I don't know anything about politics.

They don't want to be stood in Westminster arguing and bickering, they want to be out on the streets seeing what a ruddy mess they've made.

What's the big issue for you in this election?

It's all just a shambles. There's too many people over here working that shouldn't be. There's no work for me.

There's a lot of Chinese and Polish doing it and they're not even supposed to be here. Stop letting them in. They just work, work, work, work, work, for a tenth of the price I have to charge and it's no good for us.

What's the first thing you'd do as Prime Minister?

I'd stop anyone coming into the country, unless they're running away from a war or something.

I'd sort the NHS out and the roads. And, when I was a kid there were parks and swings and stuff. They've all gone.

That's why all the kids are stood outside shops and stuff, scaring old people.
