Will Harry and Graham find the letter at the market or will this be a fail?

Language in this episode

Past simple and past continuous

Harry and I were having a great time.

I ate the banana.

Were you holding it on the way here?

Erm, no I wasn't holding it then.

We were walking and my dad asked me for the clue.

TRANSCRIPT

Paula
Astrid and Eden have found another letter. Now they have two.

Ned and Clare – oh dear. They haven't found a letter yet!

But Graham and Harry have two letters, and now they want to find another one.

Graham
Right, so here's the clue, and a banana. Where do you buy those?

Harry
I don't know. You do the shopping.

Graham
Look – it's a shopping list. And here's a map.

Harry
And look! That thing is the same on the map, and the banana.

Graham
OK. So let's go there.

Harry
I was quite hungry, so we quickly stopped to eat lunch.

Graham
Harry and I were having a great time.

Right! It’s a market. We bought bananas at the market last week. Harry, do you have the clue? Or the banana?

Harry
I ate the banana, and you have the clue, Dad – or maybe I have. Maybe I put it down somewhere.

Graham
Oh no. We need the banana and the clue. You put the clue down? Were you holding it when we got here?

Harry
Maybe… I don't know! Maybe I lost it when we were sitting by the Albert Hall? You gave it to me.

Graham
Were you holding it on the way here?

Harry
Erm, no I wasn't holding it then.

Harry
So my dad and I found a letter at the Albert Hall. Two letters already! But then we got to the market, and we were walking, and my dad asked me for the clue, and it was gone.

Harry
Let's look at all the bananas? That was part of the clue.

Eden
Ned's funny. You know he was looking at his clue and then he left his hat behind!

Astrid
Come on.

Graham
We've looked at all the bananas. There's no letter, Paula.

Paula
So is this a fail?

They don’t know that Ned and Clare have also had two fails.

Oh!
