ఇవాల్టి ఎపిసోడ్‌లో వివిధ వాతావరణ పరిస్థితుల గురించి ఇంగ్లిష్‌లో ఎలా చెప్పాలో తెలుసుకుందాం. ముందుగా, కొందరు వ్యక్తులు ఈరోజు వాతావరణాన్ని గురించి ఏం మాట్లాడుకుంటున్నారో విందాం. విన్న తరువాత, వాళ్లు చెప్పినవాటిల్లో మీకు ఏది బావుందనిపిస్తోందో చెప్పండి.

What's the weather like today?

A) It's really cold and rainy.
B) It's cloudy but it's quite warm outside.
C) Ugh it's raining now.
D) It's really sunny and it's very hot today!

OK, so we ask the question like this: 'What is the weather like?' And it just means 'tell me about the weather today'. Let's practise the pronunciation. Listen again and repeat.

So, Sian, వాతావరణానికి సంబంధించిన భాషను ఒకసారి పరిశీలిద్దామా? We heard lots of adjectives. Didn't we? Adjectives అంటే విశేషణాలు.

Yes! So we have adjectives to describe the weather and these are made with the noun plus the letter 'y'. Like, for 'rain' we can say 'it's rainy today'.

అవును. ఇక్కడ ‘వర్షం’–'rain' అనేది నామవాచకం. దీన్ని విశేషణంగా మార్చడానికి 'y' తగిలించాలి – 'rainy'. It's rainy today. ఇదే విధంగా మేఘం – 'cloud', సూర్యుడు – 'sun'..ఇలాంటి నామవాచకాలను కూడా విశేషణాలుగా మార్చేయొచ్చు. ప్రయత్నిస్తారా మరి? ఈ వాక్యాలు మీరు సరిగ్గా మార్చారో లేదో సరిచూసుకోండి.

Yes, ఈ విశేషణాలన్నిటినీ, వాతావరణం గురించి చెప్పడానికి ఉపయోగించొచ్చు. రోజువారీ వాతావరణాన్ని గురించి మాత్రమే కాకుండా, సాధారణంగా మన దేశంలో ఎలాంటి వాతావరణం ఉంటుంది అని చెప్పడానికి కూడా ఈ విశేషణాలను వాడొచ్చు. 'It is'– 'it's' అని మొదలెట్టడం మాత్రం మర్చిపోకండి.

That's right so you can say 'it's raining'.

Great. ఇందాక మనం ఉష్ణోగ్రత – ‘temperature’ గురించి కూడా మాట్లాడుకోవడం విన్నాం కదా. So మనకి వేడి – 'hot’, చలి – 'cold'.. ఈ రెండూ ఉన్నాయి. అంత వేడి కాదు, అంత చలి కాదు అని చెప్పడానికి ఏమంటారో ఇందాక విన్నారు, గుర్తుందా? మళ్లీ విందాం.

That's right – so 'warm' is comfortable – not hot and not cold. We can also say 'it's cool' which is closer to cold.
