ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో, స్నేహితులకు సలహాలు ఇవ్వడంలోని వివిధ పద్ధతులను తెలుసుకుందాం. ముందుగా, ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోవడం గురించి కొందరు ఇస్తున్న సలహాలు విందాం. మొత్తం అర్థం కాకపోయినా కంగారుపడకండి. మరేం ఫరవాలేదు...నేను మీకు సహాయం చేస్తాను. ప్రస్తుతానికి అన్నీ విని, అన్నిటికన్నా ఏది ఉత్తమమైన సలహా అని మీరనుకుంటున్నారో చెప్పండి.

విన్నారు కదా! అందులో కొన్ని మంచి ఉపయోగకరమైన చిట్కాలున్నాయి. ఇంతకీ, ఉత్తమమైన సలహా ఏదో నిర్ణయించుకున్నారా లేదా? So, Sian, సలహాలివ్వడంలో వాడే భాష గురించి మాట్లాడుకుందామా?

Yes! The first speaker used the verb ‘should’. This is very common for giving advice.

అవును. ‘Should’ తరువాత ఏం పదం వచ్చిందో గమనించారా? ఒక్క క్రియాపదమే వచ్చిందా? లేక ‘to’ తో కూడిన క్రియాపదం వచ్చిందా?

Yes, they used the verb ‘write’ without ‘to’. So after ‘should’ you just need the verb, no ‘to’.

So, 'should' తరువాత 'to' రావక్కర్లేదన్నమాట.

OK, great! So now let's look at another way to give advice – we also heard 'how about..?'

Yes…కానీ, ‘how about’? తరువాత ఏమొచ్చిందో గమనించారా?

‘How about watching films in English?’

So, they used the verb ‘watching'. So after ‘how about’ you need the verb with 'ing'.

సౌమ్య
That’s right, ఇక్కడ క్రియాపదానికి ‘ing’ చేర్చాలన్నమాట. 'verb' + ing. ఉచ్చారణ చూసుకోండి…ఇది ప్రశ్న కాబట్టి చివర్లో గొంతులో ప్రశ్నార్థకం పలకాలి.

That's right – 'have to'. But this is much stronger.

So, 'have to' అనేది ఎప్పుడు వాడతామంటే…మన చెప్పేది అవతలివాళ్ళు తప్పకుండా చెయ్యాలి అనుకున్నప్పుడు 'have to' అంటాం. మళ్ళీ విందాం.

So, 'have to' అనేది (infinitive) verb కు ముందు వస్తుందన్నమాట! దీని ఉచ్చారణ కూడా ఎలా ఉంటుందో చూద్దామా?

Yes, so 'have' and 'to' together are pronounced, hafta. Repeat after me: ‘hafta’.

‘You hafta visit.’

Thanks, Sian. సలహాలు ఇవ్వడంలో మంచి మంచి పద్ధతులు నేర్చుకున్నాం కదా! ఇంక అభ్యాసం చెయ్యాల్సిన సమయం వచ్చేసింది.

‘I have a really bad headache.’

OK, so 'headache' అంటే తలనొప్పి. ఇప్పుడు అతనిని మందులేమైనా తీసుకోమని.. ‘take some medicine' సలహా ఇవ్వండి – ఇక్కడ 'should' అనే క్రియ ఉపయోగించొచ్చేమో చూడండి! Sian సలహా విన్నాక మీ జవాబు తో కంపేర్ చేసుకుని చూడండి.

Did you say the same? ఇప్పుడు ఈమె సమస్య ఏమిటో విందాం.

OK, so 'get fit' ‘అంటే ‘దృఢంగా అవ్వడం'. ఆమెకు జిమ్‌లో చేరమని సలహా ఇవ్వగలరా? ఈసారి 'how about?’ వాడి చూడండి. తరువాత Sian చెప్పింది విని మీ జవాబు సరిచూసుకోండి.
