Useful expressions

1. clinch

To 'clinch' something म्हणजे पक्क करणे किंवा नक्की करणे. विजयावर शिक्कामोर्तब केलं किंवा विजय पक्का केला अशा अर्थानेही याचा वापर होतो. 

Company on the brink of clinching massive new contract.

Bowler clinches victory in dramatic final over.

2. records tumble

'Records tumble' म्हणजे रेकॉर्ड मोडणे. मोठ्या फरकाने रेकॉर्ड मोडला असेल तर त्यासाठी याचा वापर होतो.

Records tumble at most successful tournament ever.

Temperature records tumble after heatwave.

3. run riot

To 'run riot' म्हणजे परिस्थिती अनियंत्रित होणे. खेळातल्या उत्तम कामगिरीचं वर्णन करण्यासाठी याचा वापर अनेकदा करतात. नियंत्रणाबाहेर गेलेली गर्दी, दंगे या संदर्भातही हा शब्दप्रयोग वापरला जातो.
