Useful expressions

 1.  on a shoestring

A 'shoe-string' म्हणजे अगदीच कमी बजेट मध्ये. पण इंग्रजीत 'shoestring' सहसा वापरला जात नाही. आपण नेहमी 'shoe lace' वापरतो.

 2. curtains for

नाटकाचा पडदा पडला म्हणजे नाटक संपलं. तिथूनच हा शब्दप्रयोग आलाय. 
विषय संपला किंवा  आता त्याला पुढे भविष्य नाही अशा अर्थाने curtains for वापरतात. 

• Curtains for leader after election failure
• Curtains for CEO after disastrous results

 3. sun is setting on

'sun is setting on' म्हणजे सूर्य मावळणे किंवा संपणे. 

• Sun is setting on travel agents as people prefer to book online 
• Sun sets on a glorious career as star retires
