No. આજે આપણે ચર્ચા કરી રહ્યાં છે કે screens કઈ રીતે હાનિકારક હોય છે.

Do you have any evidence to prove that? Evidence નો ગુજરાતીમાં અર્થ થાય છે પુરાવો અને monitor એ સ્ક્રીન માટેનો બીજો શબ્દ છે. Maybe you’re just getting older!

That’s not evidence, Rob! Evidence needs to be factual. આજે જે સમાચાર વિશે ચર્ચા કરી રહ્યાં છે તે BBC Click માંથી છે. સ્ક્રીન ઉપર હાલમાં જ એક સંશોધન કરવામાં આવ્યું છે, જે વિશે ડૉક્ટર સમાચારમાં જણાવી રહ્યાં છે. ડૉક્ટર મુજબ સ્ક્રીનનાં કારણે શું નુકશાન થાય છે? જાણ્વા માટે સાંભળો.

Harm એ સામાન્યતઃ એક અનિવાર્ય સંજ્ઞા જેનો અર્થ થાય છે damage. મિત્રો, damage નો ગુજરાતીમાં અર્થ થાય છે નુકશાન. ડૉક્ટર બહુવચન શબ્દ ‘harms’ નો ઉપયોગ કરે છે, જેનો ઉપયોગ મોટાભાગે તબીબી સંદર્ભમાં થાય છે.

So, screens can harm us by causing obesity and depression.

પ્રેઝન્ટર
Obesity એટલે સ્થૂળતા, બીજો અર્થ થાય છે મેદવૃદ્ધિ. Depression એટલે ખિન્નતા. બીજો અર્થ થાય છે માનસિક ઉદાસીનતા. પણ રોબ, સ્ક્રીન પોતે મશીનનો ભાગ છે અને પ્રકાશ બહાર કાઢે છે. Can that really make us obese and depressed?

So, essentially, the doctor is telling us that it’s our behaviour which is harmful to our health, because we aren’t doing important things – stuff like exercising, sleeping and eating healthily.

પ્રેઝન્ટર
Essentially એટલે ખરી રીતે. આ વાક્યને ફરીથી સાંભળો. કઈ અભિવ્યક્તિનો અર્થ સરખો થાય છે?

‘In essence’! This means ‘essentially’ or ‘basically’. ‘Essence’ starts with a vowel sound, which connects the two words together phonetically. Practise the pronunciation with me.
