गेल्या भागात आपण कॅफेमध्ये गेल्यावर कशी ऑर्डर करायची ते शिकलो. आज बोलणार आहोत रेस्टॉरंटबद्दल. यात थोडासा फरक असतो. तो समजून घेतला तर तुम्हाला सोपं जाईल. त्यासाठी एक संभाषण ऐकू. यात तुम्हाला soup, fish, vegetables, chocolate cake, water हे शब्द ऐकू येतील. रेस्टॉरंटमध्ये ऑर्डर देताना वेगवेगळ्या कोर्सेसबद्दल बोललं जातं. यात मुख्यत्वे starter, main course आणि dessert या कोर्सेसचा समावेश असतो. आता ऐकू.

To drink,I’ll have water, please.

Absolutely!

तर पहिला प्रश्न विचारतात, ‘Are you ready to order?’

Sam
There are only two ways to answer this question: ‘yes’ or ‘no’! In our conversation, the answer was ‘yes’.

Tejali  
परत एकदा ऐका, प्रत्येक पदार्थाबरोबर त्याने त्या त्या कोर्सचं नाव घेतलं आहे.    
Yes! To start, I’ll have the soup, please. For main, I’ll have the fish with vegetables. And for dessert, I’ll have the chocolate cake, please.

आता इथे कॅफे आणि रेस्टॉरंटमधला फरक लक्षात आला का? प्रत्येक कोर्सबद्दल सांगताना to start, for main, for dessert’ हे शब्द वापरले आहेत.

Sam
And then you say what you want – do you remember how?

Tejali
हो. त्यासाठी ‘I’ll have…’ म्हणतात.  

Sam
Yes, decisions in a restaurant are usually quite quick. And after ‘I’ll have…’ you say the food or drink you want.

Tejali
आणि जो पदार्थ सांगाल त्याच्या आधी the वापरतात. कारण आपण एका विशिष्ट पदार्थाबद्दल सांगतोय.

Sam
Repeat after me:

To start, I’ll have the soup, please.

For main, I’ll have the fish with vegetables.

And for dessert, I’ll have the chocolate cake, please.

यानंतर तो तुम्हाला काही पेय हवंय का, काही प्यायला हवंय का असं विचारू शकतो, ‘Anything to drink?’

Sam
Yes – this is short for ‘would you like anything to drink? – and how do you answer it, do you remember? Let’s listen again:  

To drink, I’ll have water, please.

Tejali       
याला उत्तर देण्यासाठी ‘to start’ सारखंच ‘to drink’ वापरायचं आणि त्यानंतर ‘I’ll…’ वापरायचं. म्हणजे ‘to start I’ll have soup’.

Sam
Great! Now you’ve learned what to say in a restaurant, it’s time for you to practise.

आधी वेटर तुम्हाला विचारतो, तुम्हाला ऑर्डर द्यायची आहे का? तुम्हाला सुरुवातीला सूप हवंय. आता इथे ‘for’ वापरत नाहीत हे लक्षात ठेवा. आणि please वापरायला विसरू नका.

To start, I’ll have the soup, please.

Tejali       
आता तुम्हाला मासे हवे आहेत. मग ते कसे order कराल? ऐका.

Sam
For main, I’ll have the fish.

Tejali
तुम्ही पण हेच म्हणालात का?

आता तुम्हाला पाणी हवंय, हे कसं सांगाल वेटरला? विचार करा, नंतर उत्तर ऐका.
