Grammar explanation
all + plural or uncountable nouns
Use 'all' with plural or uncountable nouns.
- I like all science fiction films.
- I love all comedy.
To refer to a specified group of things, you can use 'all of the'.
- I love all of the films that she made.
- I like all of the rom-coms that I've seen.
every + singular nouns
Use 'every' with singular nouns
- I like every actor in that film.
both + two nouns
We can use 'both' with two nouns. It is optional so it can be used for emphasis.
- I like both comedies and thrillers.
most + noun
We can use 'most' to talk about the majority of something. When we are talking about something more specific we can use 'most of'.
- I like most action films.
- I like most of the films that are on at the cinema at the moment.
any + noun
We can use 'any + noun' after negative forms of verbs, as well as with questions.
- I don't like any period dramas
- Do you love any film genres in particular?
no + noun
We can use 'no' after positive forms of verbs for a negative meaning.
- I like no rom-coms.
