ਅੱਜ ਆਪਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਜਿੰਨਾ ’ਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਨਹੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਲੇ ਟਾਈਮ ਨਹੀਂ। ਆਪਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹੀ ਮਜ਼ਾਕੀਆਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ?

My cousin is so funny. She really cracks me up!

ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਜ਼ਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਾਂ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਵਕਤਾ ਨੇ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਜ਼ਾਕੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੁਟਕਲੇ'really funny' ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ?

Here we had the adverb 'really' – which is similar to 'very'. We can use different adverbs to say how funny something is. We can make it stronger by saying something is 'incredibly funny', or we can make it weaker by saying it's 'quite funny'.

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ 'hilarious' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਕੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Hilarious is an adjective that means 'very funny' and it gives us the noun 'hilarity'. Both of these forms are stressed on the second syllable – it's hilarious and hilarity.

ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ- ਇਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਹਿਕਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਜ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ?

The people I work with really make me laugh.

ਉਹ ਹੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ 'laughs' ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਹਿਕਰਮੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ 'makes me laugh'. ਅਸੀਂ ਪੜਨਾਂਵ ‘you’ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

Obviously, if something is funny it can make you laugh – it might also 'make you smile' or 'make you happy'. 

Listen to these examples and repeat them:

Seeing my brother makes me happy.

ਆਖਰੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਹਾਸੋਹੀਣੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਮੁਹਾਵਰੇ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ- ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਰਿਆ 'crack' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ। 'She really cracks me up!'

If something or someone 'cracks you up' it means it makes you laugh a lot. We could also use it to describe laughing. For this, we use ‘be’. I could say: 'that joke is so funny – I am cracking up!'

ਚਲੋ ਹੁਣ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟਿਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੋ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ'really' ਅਤੇ 'jokes' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਕ ਬਣਾਉ। ਟੌਮ ਵੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਕ ਬਣਾਏਗਾ।
