How to use 'situation'

Situation is a noun which means the set of conditions at a particular time and place.

He has three children and he's just lost his job. It's a terrible situation.
Considering everyone was shouting, you dealt with the situation really well.

It's common to put the adjectives 'economic' and 'political' before situation.

The company is in a tight economic situation. They almost went bankrupt last year.

Also as a noun, situation can be the position of something, especially a city or a building.

The garden's situation is perfect for catching some sun.

The noun situation means the set of conditions at a particular time and place.

  • What's the situation with dinner? Do we have any details yet?
  • It was a tough situation. He wanted to tell the boss about the problem but he didn't want to lose his job.

We often use the adjectives 'economic' and 'political' before situation. 

  • When the new government came into power, the economic and political situation changed significantly. 


Situation can also be the position of something, like a building. 

  • The situation is perfect. The city is a mile away but it feels like the countryside.
