As an adjective, current relates to time. It means related to the present, relevant now or up to date.

We need to reflect current trends.

As a noun, current describes steady, continual

movement: we often use it with water, air and electricity.

The electrical current flows around the circuit.

Another way that current is used as a noun is to refer to feelings and opinion

when they are held by a lot of people together.

These writers all reflect the same current of thought.

As the band stepped on to the stage a current of excitement went through the crowd.

So, current is all about movement whether that's time, water, air, electricity or feelings.
