Basketball: Guernsey 37 v Gibraltar 77 Guernsey's men's basketball players were the first Bailiwick sportsmen to savour competitive action in Rhodes. Unusually the match was played in the morning on the day of, and well ahead of, the opening ceremony. The Sarnians went down 37-77 to Gibraltar in the Ialyssos Indoor Hall with Adam Cassaglia proving "The Rock" for the victors. Jan Renouf top scored for Guernsey with 12 points. The result leaves Guernsey rooted to the foot of the Group A with even tougher opposition to play.
