Results - Day Four - Tue 3rd JulyAction in the pool and on the track today as well as the table tennis team finals. Poor marshalling led to the whole of Guernsey men's cycling team pulling out whilst leading the road race. A group of 14 Cyclists went the wrong way on the 130 kilometre course… Guernsey’s Paul Brehaut was in the lead at the time but wasn't stopped for another 45 minutes. The Cyclists were then ordered to start the race again from where the riders got lost, at which point the Guernsey team pulled out on the advice of the medical personnel present. The Guernsey island games association are expected to lodge a formal complaint later. ![]() Erica Bodman's gold winning jump. On the track Guernsey's Lee Merrien lived up to his reputation as he obliterated the field in the 5000 metres. The distance runner couldn't hide his delight at another medal. Elsewhere at the track there was success for Erica Bodman in the high jump as she mastered the blustery conditions to jump a season best of one metre sixty five to claim the gold. Meanwhile there was disappointment in the pool for Guernsey. The swimming team, normally so strong at the Island Games, has struggled so far only picking up a silver and three bronzes. Coach Alison Frankland says other islands have made massive strides in recent years and the Sarnians' lack of success is due to the competition being closer than ever. The night wasn't with out its controversy as one of the Guernsey Bronze medals came at the expense of Jersey swimmer Katie Speller, who had finished third but was disqualified in the 200 metre breast stroke for an illegal turn. Jersey coach Daniel Corden says they'd like to appeal but the evidence will be hard to come by. ![]() Relay swimmers change. Shooting and Nicky Trebert has vowed to add to her gold in the pistol shooting, by aiming for two more medals over the next two days. Trebert was a class above the rest in the standard competition winning by more than 25 points. Guernsey's hotshot is back in action today and is the run away favourite in this kind of form to be on the top of the podium once again this evening. To Table Tennis and Alice Loveridge will be looking to become the youngest ever Guernsey competitor to win gold after suffering bitter disappointment in the team event yesterday. Despite winning 2 of her three games the Guernsey side lost out to Gotland in the final to be left with the silver. Loveridge who turns 13 on Friday starts her doubles campaign today. Basketball, and Guernsey's ladies will face Menorca in the semi finals on Thursday after a comprehensive win over the Isle of man. The defending champions will have their work cut out against the Menorcans who are looking impressive in their first ever island games. ![]() Guernsey's basketballers. Sark picked up Bronze at the Clay target range. Nick Dewe and Stefan Roberts secured 3rd place in the automatic ball trap event. Meanwhile Jill Gill from Sark finished just outside the medals in the team sports shooting. To Golf and Steve Mahy shot a 81 to leave him on 10 over for the tournament. That poor round moved him out of the top ten with three rounds to go.
