Blast, a BBC project to help teenagers explore and develop their interest in the arts, is looking for someone between the age of 16 and 19 to take part in a Young Reporter Scheme based in Gloucester. We are looking for someone who feels passionate about the arts whether it be hip hop, bhangra, Bollywood or ballet. The successful applicant will be given an eight week unpaid work experience placement with the BBC Gloucestershire Where I Live website. If you think you fit the bill then read on! What is Blast? Blast is a project which aims to show young people how easy it is to get involved in the arts. Many people have preconceived ideas about the arts, however it's not only budding thespians and future Van Goghs who would be interested in Blast. It doesn't matter whether you're into ballet or breakdancing, classical music or DJing, cubism or graffiti - they are all forms of art! A worthwhile experience The project will give you an opportunity to write about the arts in the Gloucester area, learn more about the media and expand your writing and reporting skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about the BBC and get worthwhile skills, especially if you're thinking of applying to university or a future job in journalism. Your writing online The successful applicant will work closely with the BBC Gloucestershire web team on a part-time basis between July and September 2004. They'll be responsible for creating a Blast section on the BBC Gloucestershire website and will provide weekly updates on the arts within the Gloucestershire area. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and see your work published online for the whole world to see! How to apply For further information and an application form, you'll need to visit the BBC Jobs website. Click here for more information about the Blast Reporter Scheme 2004 or Click here to fill in an online application form.
