England 5-1 Kazakhstan 英格兰 5 - 1 哈萨克斯坦
England’s third World Cup qualifier 世界杯预赛 ended with a third win as they beat Kazakhstan 5-1 at Wembley Stadium last weekend. While the result seems like a very good one for England, the mood surrounding the win 获胜后的感觉 wasn’t perhaps as euphoric 令人兴奋 as you might expect. In the first half, the 4-3-3 formation 4-3-3 阵式 chosen by manager Fabio Capello produced nothing but a goalless 零分, lifeless performance on the pitch. Unhappy with the way things were going, Capello changed things around at half-time, reverting to 返回 the successful 4-4-2 formation 4-2-2 阵式 that seems to suit this England side best 最适合英格兰队的选择. This seemed to do the trick 达到了预期的效果 and England proceeded to 接下来 score five goals. It was of course the final score that mattered most to give the team the three points they needed to help them qualify for the World Cup in 2010.
Capello said, "The result was the all-important thing and we got a good win. We have nine points now from three games and have scored plenty 很多 of goals. It’s job done." When he said, "It's job done" he meant that the most important thing was to get the three points for winning the qualifier. They did that, they won, so they achieved what they had to. Another controversy 争议 surrounding the game was the England fans booing 起哄 Ashley Cole. An error 一个失误 from him led Kazakhstan to score, making it 造成了 2-1 halfway through the second half.
Capello was disappointed that the fans chose to boo their own player saying "booing is no good for anybody". England captain Rio Ferdinand agreed with Capello. "When any player makes a mistake all you want to do is get behind him 给他援助 and gee him up 支持他,给他打气 and make sure with his next touch that he gets his confidence back and plays himself back into the game. It doesn’t help when the fans are booing one of their own players." To get behind someone means to support them and to gee someone up means to encourage them. That is what a player who has made a mistake needs.
Wayne Rooney also emphasised that the score was the most important thing on the day. "We know we can play better but the result was the most important today to keep putting the points on the board." The points on the board are of course the three points England win for their victory and the more points they get, the more chance they have of qualifying for the World Cup. Learning English Welcome Back to Manchester 欢迎再次回到曼彻斯特2008年9月01日 | 英语教学 Learning English Testing Times for Spurs 对热刺的考验时刻2008年8月26日 | 英语教学 Learning English The New Season 英超新赛季2008年8月18日 | 英语教学 Learning English
