May sunshine but no heatwave just yet...

Behnaz Akhgar

It's been a lovely Monday afternoon with plenty of bright and sunny spells. There's been a bit more cloud across Gwynedd and the south-west with coastal areas remaining breezy at times. We've seen a big contrast in temperatures - 13°C for Gwynedd and 18°C in Usk basking in the sunshine.

It's a quiet night on the weather front for Monday, staying dry with late sunshine for most areas. It will turn cloudier overnight with a few showers possible, especially across the south-east, but it will feel mild with lows of 8-10°C.

It will be a cloudy start to Tuesday with patchy drizzly rain but that will clear through the morning to leave a dry day with more sunshine developing, so a pretty decent day. It will feel a bit breezy through the afternoon with the odd sharp shower possible. There will be highs of 12-15°C.

On Tuesday night high pressure will build so the skies should clear. The winds will fall light so it will be a chilly night with some frost possible with lows of 4-7°C.

Wednesday will be a fine and dry with some good spells of sunshine - Make the most of it as it's looking pretty wet on Thursday.

As you can see on the pressure chart, there is a deep area of low pressure which will control our weather from the south-west. It will be soggy from the word go on Thursday so you will need your umbrella! But it should be back to dry and sunny conditions on Friday.

Have a lush week.
