Meeting MGMT

Something must be happening soon because everyone is getting a little more excited. On one side of the world you have some of the most respected members of the blogging community busy devising schedules, recommending showcases and grabbing last minute interviews with every promising new band they can get their hands on.
While over in blighty we’ve been collecting permission slips from the parents of our BBC Introducing acts, while our own Tom Robinson wants to know who you think we should check out at this year’s conference.
We’ll kick off today’s round up in Chicago, where Woody from HearYa has been singing the plaudits of Californian’s psych-rockers Howlin Rain. They pop up five times in the SXSW schedule, so you have plenty of opportunity to listen to some “melodic groove oriented rock”.
Not for you? Why not try some tongue-in-cheek electronica from Dustin and Anthony of Best Fwends, who stopped by for a chat with today’s Austinist.
Torr on the other hand has finally decided on who, what and where and published his full itinerary for four days in Austin. Obviously a man of good taste we spotted a stop off to see MGMT and I Was A Cub Scout at BBC Introducing’s soon to be legendary showcase at Rio on Thursday.
Speaking of MGMT, we can now furnish you with the first of our video interviews as 6 Music’s Lucy O’Doherty met the Brooklyn duo to talk festival plans, new bands and what makes you a “hater”.
More interviews very soon...
