Just a few bands from England

We could be writing for a very long time if we tried to tell you about every English act and what they’re up to in Austin this March, we could fill two posts about London bands alone, and if I run out of things to say next week I may wonder why I didn’t. Never mind, I think its best if I just pick out some of the finer moments planned for the week of March 12.

The fun kicks off on Wednesday at Antone’s, where Dev Hynes and his Lightspeed Champions join These New Puritans, The Kills and Simian Mobile Disco in an eclectic mix which also includes New York’s White Williams and Glasgow’s Sons & Daughters.

At the same time at Latitude 30” some of England’s best alt-country acts including The Barker Band, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Hey Negrita join the Alabama 3 at the Fat Fox Music showcase.

Day two, and the British Music Embassy have their annual midday barbeque featuring Scouting For Girls and The Rascals before the evening’s festivities including Clash magazine’s party, where Laura Marling featuring indie-folk group Noah And The Whale, Carbon/Silicon and Brighton’s Peggy Sue & The Pirates share the bill with sing-along anthems from The Pigeon Detectives.

If that’s not your cup of earl grey how about the remarkable alt-folk styling’s of BBC Introducing favourite Emmy The Great, who is joined at Latitude 30” by Loughborough’s Voom Blooms, Son Of Dave and the fragile folk of Johnny Flynn & his Sussex Wit friends.

Come Saturday, it's worth making your way back to Latitude 30” for the Liverpool Sound City event, featuring the ever bouncy Wombats, Rascals, the very English sounding singer-songwriter John Smith, Sonic Hearts and The Whip, who we think might be from Manchester, but lets not split hairs.

If that doesn’t tire you out completely it's also worth keeping your eye out for appearances from Richard Hawley, Duke Spirit, Riz MC, Robots In Disguise, Adele and Giles Peterson’s favourite progressive death metal, shiny cloak wearers Chrome Hoof.

Don’t forget the highlight of the week comes at Rio on Thursday where our own Steve Lamacq brings you his top picks at the BBC Introducing Showcase.

More soon, here’s some Emmy The Great:
