Never let it be said that we don't keep you bang up-to-date with the very latest Strictly news! We were chatting this morning with our close friends in the Strictly Come Dancing publicity team, and they told us that they'd love to pass a message on to you. So, over to you, gang!

Hi, here's the first News Blog posting from the Strictly Come Dancing Press Team!

We wanted to introduce ourselves to you, and to give you a little information about who we are and what we do. Basically, we're a team of four who look after the show from a press point of view, which means we're the first point of call for journalists and thus always very busy indeed!

We're excited to let you know that we will announce this year's celebrity line-up on Wednesday 8th of September, the day that we film our brand new red carpet Launch Show.

We've seen a few of you comment that you're a little concerned about the fact that you may find out who's being partnered with who, and it won't be a surprise on the night. Rest assured, we're working with the press to make sure that these details aren't reported until the show airs on Saturday 11th - and of course, we will be asking the studio audience to please keep it to themselves as not to spoil it for anyone.

We've got lots of great ideas for this series and can't wait for it all to kick off next week. Do keep in touch with us on Twitter and Facebook, or leave us a comment below - and we'll be back with more exclusive news soon!

Many thanks for that, Publicity Team! So make sure you mark the 8th September in your diaries, clear your decks, book the day off work... coz that's when you'll discover exactly who our 14 celebs for 2010 will be!

    Has the scoring been revamped this year? I think the public score should be multiplied by the percentage each couple score out of 40 (perfect score). That way popular but bad dancers don't knock out less popular good ones.

    e.g.

    judge score 40 (100%)

    public vote 400,000

    100% x 400,000 = 400,000

    judge score 20 (50%)

    public vote 600,000

    50% x 600,000 = 300,000

    The public vote is still as important (even more so to poorer dancers) but it's fairer to the good dancers. I've suggested this before and been disappointed that the BBC stick with the same (IMHO) broken system.

    Hi Strictly Paul,

    Just a quick query for the publicity team: Last year there was lots of info about scoring, programme format etc in the Press Pack. I've just checked the Press Office site, and see it's not there yet, and the launch show isn't mentioned in TV PI for 11 Sept. Are you waiting til 8 Sept to have a big publicity splurge on all the details?

    Thanks,

    Chocs (formerly statskate - wonder if I should bother with my j-word graphs this year??? Anyone heard from hatlady?)

    I am sorry that we have not got the old message boards but at least we can still communicate via the new system.My greetings to anyone who remembers me from last year.I am looking forward to the new series;I have already ordered my SCD 2011 calendar!

    What I wonder is;have the BBC got a contingency plan in place in case a celebrity leaves early for personal reasons,so that other competitors do not lose out through no fault of their own? ( As someone has left early for the past four years I think that this is a valid question.)

    Hello queendancingowl. Contingency plans were covered in the Press Pack last year, so I'm hoping they will be again this year. Not that last year's plans prevented a 2 couple final, although they included contingency for reinstating eliminated couples. I wonder if the producers are worried about a public backlash from reinstating a couple once they've been eliminated via public vote. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with this as we're voting to save rather than eliminate, and I'd prefer the production team to take action to ensure a 3 couple final.

    Hi Chocokate! I'm not sure yet exactly when all of the information about scoring, etc is going to be released. Whenever it is, we'll make sure there's a News Blog article about it (so you can all comment on it!) and we'll update the info on our https://www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/about/voting.shtml page. :)

    Queendancingowl - Yes, there'll be contingency plans in place should any celebrities have to leave the show early.

    Thanks for your comments!

    hello everyone. Took me a while to find the news blog. Sad about message boards in some ways, but it really did need a sort out. Looking forward Paul to you and teams news. Brushed off the cobwebs from the tiara and had the spangles thrown back on the dress. So all set for a fantastic 2010 Strictly.

  • Comment number 12.

    Well, just half an hour before 8th September, and I just wanted to say that after all the hype surrounding the new series, and dancers leaving/new dancers arriving etc, I would like to wish everybody concerned a huge success this season. Good luck.

    There are an awful lot of old celebs this year which isn't that good for the pros :-(

    I am keeping everything crossed that Anton does not get Ann Widdicombe, she's a lovely lady but she's never going to get past the first or perhaps second routine.

    Not to happy that the judges line up has remained the same, maybe someone has had a word in their shell-likes about their behaviour for this year? I hope so, I'm not sure I can take another year of Bruno's OTT posturing.

    I am looking forward to Saturday and Simon Cowell & Co will just have to accept that class always wins out in the end hehehehe.
