And a happy thanksgiving to us all. I know we can't have it as it is all about the Pilgrim Fathers etc (although they were Brits) but the idea of a day off, a big meal, no presents, no services and just gratitude as the required emotion seems a top way to spend the day. So here is my list of things (in no particular order) to be thankful for (counting your blessings as my gran would have said).
coffee
central heating
my new socks
green tea
chamomile tea
pies
a steam room without Justin Bieber in it
wild weather
swifts
swallows
trying to tell the difference
having the best job in the world
aubergine chutney
wife 1
child 1
child 2
child 3
red cabbage
This is not complete and I may return to it, just to tinker a little but in the meantime, pick us some songs of GRATITUDE and THANKS and we'll have our own little festival.
Nige will provide the food-pheasant in hay anyone? Would grass cuttings from last month work just as well please?
list (contd.)
cheese and pickle sandwiches
writing a good sentence
asking a good question
strangers who smile at you (not in a weird way)
this show
this radio station
this country
this sceptered isle
(ok stop right there. That's quite enough spece filled for now. Ed)
