1988

Presenter

Is the year for the ARFO today and i don't need to struggle for long to remember what I was up to. Starting on the breakfast show on Radio 1 isn't something you forget. Sheer terror is the dominant emotion which is one reason why I was impressed with Nick Grimshaw's first show-he seemed utterly nerveless. Plus I knew I didn't have universal support at the management level, a producer who was out of the country and a new on-air team to integrate. Apart from that, it was a breeze. We won in the end-the increase in audience calming nerves as it usually does-and we had a blast. And crazy hair. And Stock Aitken and Waterman, Bros and INXS for company. And what did 1988 bring for you dear bloggers?

First I feel some movie show goodness coming on (and an open mic for 2 hours. Work that cough button!) and a conversation with Emily Watson, star of The Book Thief as a reminder of what my voice used to sound like. Then, via the steam room, to ARF central.

Have a great weekend y'all!
