Phew what a scorcher etc. Shorts made an appearance yesterday but no one was looking so I might have got away with it. A sunny weekend of many comings and goings, visitors and takeaways before ending up at a pub bash for Rick Wakeman's 65th birthday. Those hoping for a Yes reunion were disappointed (unless it all happened after we left); Mustang Sally yes, The Revealing Science of God (Dance of the Dawn) not as far as I could tell.
To work! Book club time again and today we offer you 'The Year of the Rat' by Clare Furniss. It's a story of 16 year old Pearl who's mother dies giving birth to her sister-the 'rat' of the title-and her attempts to make sense of her life and friends. It is a striking story, made all the more intruiging by the regular appearance of Pearl's mother for chats with her daughter. It's a YA debut and very impressive too. Hear Clare after 6.
And as Radio 2's Guitar Season kicks off- Martin Simpson tonight on the folk guitar-let's have songs about GUITARS and GUITARISTS will go down well.
