Coffee rather fine today. I’ve eased back into the world of the cafetierè and away from the espresso machine; finer flavour, less caffeine. That's what I think anyway. If you only drink a couple of coffees a day, you need to make sure they’re good cups. Too many of Matt’s favourite trendy, bearded, sandalled coffee bars will only sell you espresso-based coffee and if you ask for the French Press, they look at you as though you’re asking for a cup of instant...

Foody Thursday is here and Nige is gearing up with cauliflower ‘steaks’ with yoghurt and tahini. There is obviously no such thing as a cauliflower steak but sliced cauliflower doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Matt might sneer but cometh the hour, it will be a sensation and he’ll love it. It’s the most overrated food of all time of course, but the social side of everything makes it so much fun. Inhale that smoke! Taste the charcoal! Scrape the fat from that grill!
