It’s not the winning...

Well apparently it’s cooler to come second. After the show last night I was part of a film quiz team run by top actor Mark Strong (currently to be seen in The Imitation Game and Kingsmen). Mark Kermode and myself lent our considerable expertise (unevenly distributed it has to be said) and we romped to second place. But as the winning team was widely believed to have been doing a spot of mobile-phone-checking-under-the-table, we emerged the moral victors. Host Harry Enfield even suggested that because we had a film critic on our table we should be deducted 10 points which seemed a tad unfair. I suspect that phones have spoiled some of the more serious quizzes; I have seen very influential but flummoxed folk doing a quick search to find a quote/date/news story in aid of a point or 2. But when you have Mark on your team you have no need for wifi…

Super top show today with top comic Milton Jones, him with the hair and the shirts. His show is called Temple Of Daft. Daft as in absurd, preposterous, ridiculous, ludicrous, farcical, laughable, risible; idiotic, stupid, foolish, foolhardy, unwise, imprudent, ill-conceived, silly, inane and maybe puerile, so we’ll try DAFT songs and see what happens.
