Ooh how lovely, Chris is playing Scenes From An Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel. A lovely way to 'start the day' (despite being up since 5.30). The power of those long songs still amazes me. As I mentioned on the last Tunesday, even though we all have these songs in our collection somewhere, there's still a joy in hearing them on the radio. A collective moment when we can all sing along and mess up the harmony together.
Anyway bright sunny and cool here, autumnal shoes making an appearance. Might finish book 3, might not. Might meet my sister for lunch, might not. It's an indecisive kind of day I fear. The only certainty is 5-7pm. Attendance compulsory (for me). And very good today I think as we are blessed with the rev Richard Coles, former Communard and current CofE vicar. He also is a radio host over on Radio 4's Saturday Live of course and a hilarious tweeter. He regularly writes about saints days and what a strange bunch the saints are/were. Here we have lusty monks, cross-dressers, and assorted misfits. Take St Edith of Wilton for example who beat up the devil (apparently) or St Hildegund who had an utterly miserable life pretending to be a bloke only after death being 'revealed' as a woman. She is the patron saint of trousers. OBVS. WHat a weird set up! So Richard after 6 and how about SAINTLY oldies. Songs with saints in will be a blast I think! And new! Hooray!
Have a sensitive and well-judged Wednesday, see you after 5
