Rollin’ and Tumblin'

There’s a small white box flashing away in the corner of the room. It is spreading a message of hope and good cheer. Translated it means I bring wifi to all, yea even the darkest corners of this house. This is a wonderful thing as until now, many rooms have been dark to the 21st century but a younger mind than mine spotted the magic box and lo! I can write to you from everywhere. A good start to a fabulous week (I’m sure that’s true).

We kick off with Mike Scott from The Waterboys on the show today. Their/his new album Modern Blues is out and the song November Tale is all over Radio 2. It’s good to have him/them back-he has one of the most distinctive voices out there and he has been spinning his magic for more than 30 years and these new songs are classic Waterboys. So obviously we’ll go for those BLUES as the oldies today (modern or not). Monday is Blues night on Radio 2, Modern Blues is the album and today is supposed to be when we get the blues, even of that is just a media construct intended to fill space in places like this. But a bunch of great Blues songs will blast the cold away and we can all pretend to be Muddy Waters for the evening. Or maybe Paul Jones...
